Renewables supply only a fraction of new electricity loads in the PNW. As a result, data center operator statements about clean and renewable power targets in the Pacific Northwest aren't worth the paper they are written on. The truth is that current clean energy mandates, unreliable resource availability, and rising costs are undermining large-scale, affordable electricity and green industry growth. Safety, reliability, and market economic demands mean that natural gas and nuclear will have to play bigger roles in regional energy transitions.
